Strange Wedding Rituals across the World
Malasya: No Pooping
For the tribes of Tidong community, wedding day is the first day of a three day journey to hell and back.
The newly married couple will not be allowed to urinate or empty their bowels for 3 days and 3 nights under any circumstances. They will be fed small amounts of water and food and will be under close surveillance by family and friends.
Tidong people believe that if the couple could make it for three days, then they will lead a happy and long life.
Scotland: Black Bride
During “Blackening the bride” tradition in some parts of Scotland, the bride-to-be will be kidnapped by the couple’s friends and she will be wrapped from head to toe with all kinds of crap. Brides have been known to be covered in mixtures containing rotten egg, spoiled milk, smelly sauces, fish and even tar.
Once the bride has officially been blackened, she is escorted around the town to several bars and pubs for all to see. She will spend hours in shower scrubbing her body before the big day.
