The Great Star of Africa/ Cullinan I

The Cullinan is the largest rough diamond ever found. It was found in South Africa in 1905. It was presented to King Edward VII, King of the United Kingdom in that decade. Later, it was broken into first three pieces and then nine. The largest cut diamond in the world is from the rough Cullinan. It is called as Cullinan I which is also known as Star of Africa. This pear shaped diamond crystal is of 530.20 Carats has 74 facets. The original rough diamond Cullinan was of 3,106 –carat weighted. Today, it is kept with other Crown Jewels in the Tower of London.
