26 percent of respondents believe that the Congress is the best party to address the problems of poverty and unemployment. 31 percent think the BJP will be better for the poor while 35 percent trust other parties.

In the criteria of ‘best Chief Minister in terms of performance’ Narendra Modi topped the list again. Nitish Kumar was ranked second while Mamta Banerjee was ranked third. Sheila Dixit occupied the fourth position and Mayawati the fifth.

For those who think Anna Hazare is politically dead, in a straight contest from any constituency with Rahul, Hazare wins by a landslide. Respondents say they would vote for Anna Hazare if both Anna and Rahul Gandhi were to contest from their constituency. 60 percent favors Hazare while only 24 percent favors Rahul. Anna Hazare clearly has gained popularity. The survey revealed that Manmohan is no longer a role model for honesty and integrity in public life. That space has been surrendered by him to Anna. It shows that Congress's attempts to force a diluted Lokpal Bill through Parliament have not fooled the public. An enormous 63 percent of respondents agree with Hazare's view that the Lokpal Bill introduced by the Government in Parliament in December, is weak and ineffective.
