The 'Advani for PM' debate has taken the center stage and many in the political circle feel that Advani is rolling his 'rath' to the Prime Ministerial post this time. Although he has rubbished his political ambitions in the recent past, he avoided a direct answer this time when whether he is still in the race by saying, "Who will be the prime ministerial candidate, the party will decide when the polls come. It is still more than two years away. However, the government is functioning in a manner that it seems it can fall any time." His Yatra has reportedly worsened the infighting in the party among the possible candidates such as Arun Jaitley, Narendra Modi and Sushma Swaraj for country's most powerful post. Speculations of severe drift between the two leaders has been doing the rounds from day one as shifting the venue from Gujarat and Nitish Kumar flagging off Advani's yatra were seen as the outward reflections of it. Political observers assume that these moves were an attempt from Advani to prove that he is the preferred public face of the party.
