2. Kiran Nadar Museum of Art:
Kiran Nadar Museum of Art
Kiran Nadar, the trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation and the wife of HCL head honcho, has put her passion for art through India's first ever philanthropic private museum. The museum debuted in the year 2009 in Noida, Delhi. It is situated in the South Court of Delhi's DLF Mall, not too far away from the Devi Art Foundation. According to Kiran, Art is not only meant for the elite class of the society, it should be made available to common man as well. She said that though the top end of art will surely demand elite class, the viewing of art is not necessarily classified so. The non- profit, non-commercial organization has provided space for exhibiting modern and contemporary art from India and the subcontinent. It houses extraordinary array of artworks that highlight the visual trajectories of modern and contemporary Indian art of the post Independence decades. This private museum showcases Kiran Nadar's personal collection of works by masters such as Anish Kapoor, FN Souza, Subodh Gupta, SH Raza, MF Husain and Tyeb Mehta. The museum draws inspiration from the Guggenheim in New York.
