India's IT Policy 2011 Assures 28 Million New Jobs

While addressing a press conference, Sibal said that the new IT policy will fortify the regulatory and security framework to ensure a secure cyberspace ecosystem. The draft policy is accessible on the website of the Department of Information Technology, inviting comments and suggestions. It affirms to raise the IT revenue from $88 billion to $300 billion by 2020. Pointing towards the noteworthy contribution, the IT sector has made to the growth of the Indian economy over the last decade. Sibal said, "Our objective from this policy is to increase revenues of IT and ITeS (IT-enabled services) industry from $88 billion at present to $300 billion by 2020 and expand exports from $59 billion at present to $200 billion by 2020 and to create a pool of 10 million additional skilled manpower"

In addition to that, he said that India is well located to improve and influence its existing IT capabilities for a leadership role in the world as a "global IT power house." He also promised economic aid to small enterprises and start-ups in the key industrial sector to take up IT in the value creation.
