India Ranks 112th Globally in Internet Speed

2. Internet Penetration Worldwide In the second quarter of 2011 more than 604 million unique IP addresses from 238 countries and regions WERE connected to the Akamai Intelligent Platform. Amid those countries that are listed in the top ten list for the number of unique IPv4 addresses connecting to the Akamai Intelligent Platform during the quarter, Brazil topped the list for the quarterly increase at 9.0 percent, growing to over 15 million IP addresses, followed by Japan's 8.7 percent growth to nearly 45 million IP addresses a close second. Among the European countries in the top 10, Italy claimed the greatest quarterly gain at 5.4 percent, growing to just over 14 million IP addresses while Germany gathered an increase of only 0.4 percent, staying just below 35 million IP addresses. U.S. managed to add only 0.6 percent to its unique IP address count, remaining just below 143.5 million IP addresses.
