Gartner Feels Google Too Late for iTune Rivalry
Apple offered songs for 99 cent each in 2003, when they started off with their iTune music store. The users have shifted from CDs to online music services almost a decade now, and it benefited the company that makes its own hardware and software and runs on it. The iTune service of Apple runs on its own devices like iPod, iPhone and iPad table and even Apple computers. Google bounced back into the smartphone market by allowing manufacturers to customize the Android system for their hardware. According to Gartner, Android led the global smartphone industry in third quarter with 53 percent of the market. It's going to be a tough challenge for Google to compete with Apple's iTune, which has established itself long back. Going by the statistics, iTune customers have downloaded 16 billion songs and around $1.5 billion revenue was generated by Apple store in recent quarter.
