The All India Council for Technical Education is the government body that grants recognition to the courses in management studies, engineering, information technology, pharmacy, architecture, hotel management and catering etc. The organization has warned that the degrees and diplomas awarded by the unrecognized institutes are of no worth, especially if the candidates seek government jobs.

Next in the list of fake institutes is Andhra Pradesh with 52 such institutes having no recognition followed by West Bengal with 34 institutes. The other states include Uttar Pradesh with 30 institutes, Karnataka with 26 institutes, Haryana with 17 institutes and Tamil Nadu with 14 such fake institutes.
