According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the value of mineral production increased by 12 percent in 2011. This percentage was mostly contributed by the metals as non-metallic minerals just accounted to 3 percent. It was found that about $74 billion worth of nonfuel minerals were mined in U.S. The other minerals that were recycled estimated to $32 billion to the economy.
