Zomato gets GST notice of Rs.9.45 crore, maps to take stance against the notice
Indian Food delivery giant, Zomato received a GST – Goods and Service Tax demand notice of 9.45 crore from the Audit – Assistant commissioner of commercial taxes, Karnataka, the company states in a BSE exchange filing.
As per the filing, Karnataka’s tax regulator has necessitated a GST of 5,01,95,462 (approximately 5.01 crore), that will be marked up an interest fee of 3.93 crore and a drawback of 50.19 lakh, carrying the total amount up to 9.45 crore. 
Zomato has received the tax order for the fiscal year 2019-2020 under the appraisal of GST earnings and financial records, the filing showed.
Following this, the company shares ended at 0.10 percent greater at 200.35 on June 28th, Friday associated to the preceding shares at 200.15. 
Responding to the received tax notice, the company replied, “We believe that we have a strong case on merits and the company will be filing an appeal against the order before the appropriate authority”.
To mention notably, this is not the first time the Indian food delivery giant gotten a tax notice from the tax regulator. Already the company received a tax notice from the Gurugram’s Additional Commissioner, Central goods and Services in the year 2021. The respective notice necessitated the food-tech startup to pay 11.82 crore comprising the penalty and interest fee, as per the media reports. Appealing in contrast to the tax order, Zomato had the released same responses.
