Gujarat to host country's first-ever Sports Startup Conclave
The inaugural Sports Startup Conclave, set to be held on December 11 at TransStadia University in Ahmedabad by the Gujarat government, aims to invigorate India's sports startup sector and support emerging businesses. This event serves as a nexus between sports and entrepreneurship, aligning with Gujarat's vision for sports development in the country. It will also acknowledge remarkable achievements in the sports business landscape. Notably, the conclave includes the Sports Startup Awards, offering a total of Rs 2.5 million in cash prizes for the top three winners. This flagship event precedes Vibrant Gujarat, a significant international investor summit in India, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
India's economy is experiencing rapid growth, and according to a Morgan Stanley report, it is projected to become the world's third-largest economy by 2027. The sports sector has played a significant role in this expansion, evident from the Indian sports industry's expenditure exceeding Rs 14,000 crore as per GroupM ESP's Sporting Nation Report 2023. The primary goal of the conclave is to shine a spotlight on the startup community, which has been diligently emphasizing inventive tactics, technological advancements, and transformative endeavors that are reshaping the landscape of both sports and business. This distinctive opportunity will serve as a platform for numerous sports startups to exhibit their strategies, plans, progression, and influence. The top five startups will be acknowledged as winners, receiving cash prizes and mentorship.
The conclave, orchestrated by the Government of Gujarat and the Sports Authority of Gujarat, collaborates with TransStadia University and the Sportscom Industry Confederation. Additionally, it receives support from iCreate and i-Hub, robust incubators partnering closely with the Gujarat Government to promote 'Next Generation Entrepreneurship'. I-Hub is designed as a hub for all startup stakeholders to cultivate a comprehensive innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem throughout Gujarat. Conversely, iCreate stands as the foremost institution in India dedicated to converting technology innovation-centered startups into thriving enterprises, operating not just in Gujarat but across the country.
