ICC Men's T20 WC'24: Indian Team Opts for Ground Session Before Practice Match
Ahead of the T20 World Cup, the Indian men’s cricket team held their first ground session. Led by strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai, the team engaged in a light running session accompanied by some fun activities. Instead of practicing cricket, they focused on adapting to the USA's time zone.
“We didn’t have any practice session today as the motive of the ground session was to make the body adapt to the timing zones. The key thing playing in away condition is to prepare your body and be mentally prepared for the challenges, so that is what we are developing for now”, said Soham Desai to BCCI.
Captain Rohit Sharma, along with Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and traveling reserves Shubman Gill and Khaleel Ahmed, participated in the activity.
India is scheduled to have their only warm-up match against Bangladesh at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 1. Their Men's T20 World Cup journey commences on June 5 against Group A rivals Ireland in New York, with a much-anticipated encounter against Pakistan following on June 9.
Following that, India will confront co-hosts USA on June 12 in New York before heading to Florida to compete against Canada on June 15, concluding their Group A fixtures. India, who clinched the inaugural Men's T20 World Cup title in 2007, aspire to secure the trophy for only the second time in the forthcoming tournament.
