ICC Men's T20 WC'24: Gaffaney and Tucker to Umpire India-England Match
Chris Gaffaney from New Zealand and Rodney Tucker from Australia will officiate as the on-field umpires during India's clash with England in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup semifinal, marking the second consecutive tournament they have done so. Nitin Menon, an Indian umpire, will join England's Richard Illingworth as field umpires for the first semifinal.
Defending champions England secured their spot in the semifinals with a commanding 10-wicket victory over co-hosts USA. Meanwhile, India completed a flawless Super 8s stage with a 24-run triumph over Australia. Joel Wilson will serve as the TV Umpire for a rematch of the 2022 semifinal in Sydney, where England emerged victorious. Paul Reiffel will be the fourth umpire for the match in Guyana on June 27.
Previously, the ICC announced that Richard Illingworth and Nitin Menon would officiate as the on-field umpires when Afghanistan creates history by competing in their inaugural ICC Men's T20 World Cup semifinal. Afghanistan secured their place with an eight-run victory over Bangladesh, determined by the DLS method, thereby advancing from the Super 8s at the expense of Australia.
On Wednesday night in Trinidad, Afghanistan will face South Africa, vying for a spot in Saturday’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final. South Africa aims to reach their first-ever final in this tournament. Richard Kettleborough will serve as the TV Umpire, while Ahsan Raza will be the Fourth Umpire for the match.
