IT Ministry, MEA Ink MoU for eMigrate Services via Common Service Centres
The Centre has taken a significant step towards aiding blue-collar workers by announcing the provision of eMigrate services through Common Services Centres (CSCs) to cater to their needs at the grassroots level. In a joint effort, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and CSC eGovernance Services have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), as disclosed by the IT Ministry.
This collaboration entails the integration of the MEA's eMigrate portal with CSC's portal to offer various services to citizens. These services include applicant registration on the eMigrate portal via CSCs, uploading and processing necessary documents, facilitating bookings for medical and other essential services, and raising awareness about eMigrate services nationwide.
Highlighting the increasing trend of Indian workers seeking employment abroad and the significant remittance contributions they make, the Ministry emphasized the importance of the eMigrate project. Launched to streamline the emigration process and provide a secure platform for foreign employers, registered recruitment agents, and insurance companies, the project aims to address issues faced by migrant workers.
Currently, with over 5.50 lakh CSCs delivering more than 700 digital services in assisted mode, the MoU aims to expand safe and legal migration channels at the grassroots level. The IT Ministry underlined the objective of preventing the exploitation of Indian citizens seeking employment overseas by unscrupulous elements.
This strategic collaboration marks a pivotal initiative towards ensuring the welfare and safety of blue-collar workers, streamlining the emigration process, and promoting ethical employment practices in the global workforce landscape.
