Digital Shakti 5.0 Launches to Empower 10 Lakh Women in Cyberspace
CyberPeace Foundation (CPF), in collaboration with the National Commission for Women (NCW), has launched the fifth phase of the Digital Shakti Campaign, aiming to empower and upskill women and girls in cyberspace across India. The initiative, which began in 2018 at Punjab University, has already trained 6 lakh women in digital safety. Now, in its latest phase, the goal is to extend this training to 10 lakh women.
The Digital Shakti Campaign aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India initiative, aiming to bridge the digital gender gap and empower women in the digital era. Rekha Sharma, Chairperson of NCW, emphasized the ongoing challenges women face across various fields despite India's advancements, highlighting the significant gender gap in STEM fields.
Under this program, CPF has designated responders in each state to provide comprehensive training in digital skills, cybersecurity awareness, AI, and emerging technologies. Major Vineet Kumar, Founder and Global President of CPF, expressed gratitude to frontline workers, NGOs, industry professionals, and all contributors for their support in making this campaign impactful.
The campaign's progression has been substantial, with the first phase sensitizing 60,000 participants, the second phase reaching 1,05,000 participants, and the third phase educating 1,50,000 women and girls. This ongoing effort marks one of the largest national campaigns dedicated to empowering women digitally.
The initiative aims not only to educate but also to empower women to navigate the digital landscape safely and confidently. By equipping them with essential digital skills and knowledge about cybersecurity, CPF and NCW seek to enhance opportunities and security for women in an increasingly digital world.
The Digital Shakti Campaign underscores India's commitment to advancing gender equality and ensuring that women are not only participants but leaders in the digital revolution. With a strong network of support and a clear vision for the future, CPF and NCW are paving the way for a more inclusive and empowered society through digital literacy and skill development.
