Infosys Eye Dozen New Ideas To Propel Growth

BANGALORE: Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka is all set to infuse a dozen new business ideas that can possibly bring a $100 million return and a total of over a billion dollars in incremental revenue, annually. It’s a part of Sikka’s focus in expanding the second largest software exporter of India, Infosys.

Infosys is identifying ideas in the fields of artificial intelligence, automation and Internet of Things, two people associated with the strategy disclosed on the condition of anonymity.

Infosys employees expect that such consistent returns from new initiatives will take at least two three years.

“Sikka wants people like Michael Reh, Abdul Razack, Navin Budhiraja to specifically take charge and execute some next-gen ideas that could translate into millions of dollars of fresh business for the company," the person added.

Hence, key people of Infosys like Edge-Verve head Michael Reh, platforms head Abdul Razack, and architecture and technology head Navin Budhiraja are already working in some of these initiatives.

Towards the end of 2014, Sikka had a meeting with top customers, advisors and analysts of Infosys. One of the persons of this meeting said, Sikka had discussed a broad sketch out of this strategy in that meeting itself.

From the company’s side it has been also confirmed that one of the ideas in the field of automation has already resulted in a customer outsourcing project being completed few months before deadline. The same person added that this is very rare in the IT sector as IT firms generally tend to maximize revenue by extending contract.

Since Sikka has taken charge over Infosys, many company executives and employees are taking up course on design thinking in order to expertise in creative and systematic approach to problem solving in professional life.
