Apple Enhances iOS Experience for Indian Users with iOS 18 Update
Apple has rolled out its latest iOS 18 update, bringing a host of new features aimed at enhancing the user experience for its customers in India. The update introduces significant improvements across phone and communication functionalities, along with robust support for Indian languages and numerals.
According to Apple, iOS 18 marks a major release designed to make the iPhone more personal, capable, and intelligent than ever before. Key highlights include extensive customization options, a major redesign of the Photos app, and enhanced management features for Mail.
One of the standout features of the update is the inclusion of support for Indian numerals on the lock screen, available in 12 languages including Arabic, Bangla, Devanagari, Gujarati, and Telugu. Users can now personalize their lock screen with these numerals, adjusting font color and weight to suit their preferences.
iOS 18 introduces Live Voicemail Transcription in Indian English, Live Caller ID support, and improvements in call history management with a new phone keypad search and dialing experience.
A significant addition is the 'multilingual keyboard' feature, allowing users on iPhone 12 and later models to type phonetically with Latin characters in English and up to two additional Indian languages. This feature supports QuickPath and Emoji Prediction, enhancing the typing experience across Messages, Notes, and other applications.
Apple has also expanded alphabetical keyboard layouts to 11 Indian languages, enabling users to type directly in Indian scripts with dynamically changing vowel and conjunct keys based on input context. Supported languages include Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Tamil, and Urdu, among others.
Furthermore, iOS 18 enhances language search capabilities, integrates multilingual support for Siri, and updates apps like Translate and Move to iOS. Users with dual SIM capabilities also gain more control over their settings.
In a statement, Apple highlighted the update's focus on customization and user empowerment, aiming to cater specifically to the diverse linguistic needs of Indian users. The enhancements reflect Apple's commitment to localizing its technology offerings and improving accessibility across its product ecosystem.
With these updates, Apple seeks to strengthen its position in the Indian market by providing a tailored experience that combines advanced technology with cultural sensitivity, ultimately aiming to enrich the digital lives of its users in India.
The iOS 18 update is now available for compatible iPhone models, offering Indian users a more intuitive and personalized smartphone experience.
