Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Hits The Sony Xperia Z Series Smartphones


BENGALURU: Here’s some good news for the Xperia handset owners out there!  Sony’s announcement that all of its Z series handsets will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, has now been confirmed. The President of Sony Electronics, Mike Fasulo, said that the rollout of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Xperia Z handsets will start from the next month, reports NDTV gadgets.

Apparently, the dates for the release are still not out, but some of the media reports however have claimed that the Sony Xperia Z3 series will receive the update first starting February. On the other hand, the company had announced on Twitter that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update would reach the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 handsets at the starting of 2015.

Nevertheless, the popular Sony Xperia Z series which would receive the update include the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.

Last year, Sony had released the Android 5.0 Lollipop AOSP device configuration source, pre-built software binaries and build instructions binaries for its range of Xperia Z handsets.
