Paytm Partners with Travel Aggregators to Boost Travel Segment
One 97 Communications Limited (OCL), the parent company of Paytm, has announced strategic partnerships with prominent travel aggregators including Skyscanner, Google Flights, and Wego, aiming to enhance its position in the travel sector. This move is part of Paytm’s ongoing effort to expand its market share in online travel services.
In the fourth quarter of FY24, Paytm's travel segment saw a significant year-on-year growth in flight bookings by approximately 19%, outpacing the industry's growth rate of around 3%. The company also reported a 15% annual increase in international ticket bookings in April, indicating a strong preference for Paytm Travel among users seeking competitive pricing and seamless service.
A key development is Paytm’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) integration with Amadeus. This integration, featuring Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways as the inaugural airlines on the NDCx platform, and the onboarding of Eva Airways, leverages artificial intelligence to offer customized travel options and packages directly from airlines, enhancing the user booking experience.
Additionally, Paytm Travel has expanded its offerings by adding three international carriers: Cambodia Angkor Air, SalamAir, and FlyDubai. This expansion provides users with more choices for international travel. The platform has also increased its domestic service range by partnering with new bus operators, including Mettur, thereby extending its reach to travelers from small cities and towns.
Paytm has introduced a Free Cancellation service across its travel categories trains, buses, and flights. This service has gained popularity, especially among users seeking greater flexibility and reassurance in their travel plans.
