Bangalore: One in three travelers has never visited any of the World’s Seven Wonders. Actually a decent 20 percent of the travelers from across the World had never even heard of the seven wonders. Yet some wonders are more popular than the others reveals a survey conducted by a hotel booking portal, reports Chinmayi Shalya, of TheTimes of India. The survey highlights the fact that globetrotters across the world are bypassing the wonders for other locations.

According to the survey report, Rome's ancient amphitheatre, the Colosseum, occupied the top position as the most popular wonder of the world with 33 percent of the travelers claiming that they have visited it at least once. Followed, by the Great Wall of China, which 17 percent of the sample travelers had visited. Wonders like the Christ the redeemer of Brazil and Taj Mahal were visited by only 9 percent of the explorers. The other two wonders like Peru’s Machu Pichu and Jordan's Petra were quite down in the list with only 5 percent and 6 percent of the visitors visiting them respectively. This weekend let us explore these seven wonders that have lost its shine below.

1. Rome's ancient amphitheatre, the Colosseum: lets start with the Rome's ancient amphitheatre, the Colosseum, as it emerged to be in the top position as most popular wonder of the world. The elliptical amphitheatre located in the centre of the city of Rome Italy is considered as the greatest works of Roman architecture and  engineering. History reveals that this wonder was constructed by emperors of the Flavian dynasty, therefore it was also called Amphitheatrum Flavium.
