What makes Republic Day Parade so Special?

Bangalore: India became a truly sovereign state on the 26th January 1950, which is one of the most important days in Indian history as it was on this day the constitution of India came into force and till date India has been celebrating this day with grandeur and pride. To mark the importance of this occasion with great enthusiasm and splendour, every year a grand parade is held.

Specialty of the Parade

The Republic day parade of India has rightly become the one of the world’s famous and greatest shows which draws Thousands of visitors. The main specialty of this parade is the march past by the different regiments of the army, Navy and the Air force who  in all their splendid uniforms, finery and official decorations even the horses of the cavalry are attractively caparisoned to suit the occasion. National Cadet Corps (N.C.C) cadets from all over are country are selected and picked through prior screenings, who consider it an honour to participate in this event.

 

When, Where & Route of the Parade

The main Republic day parade takes place in the capital of country New Delhi. The Republic Day parade in 2012 will commence from Vijay Chowk at 9.50 a.m. This year Republic Day Parade will cover its way down an eight-kilometre route from Vijay Chowk at the foot of the Raisina Hill near Rashtrapati Bhavan (President's Palace) through Red Fort, winding its way along Rajpath, India Gate and Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg.
