Khosla Ventures raises $1 Billion
Santa Clara: Khosla Ventures is raising a new fund of $1.05 billion, Khosla Ventures IV, according to an SEC filing. The fund will be raised just over a year since the firm closed on $1.3 billion for two funds, Khosla Ventures III and Khosla Ventures Seed Fund. These funds are being spent on cleantech startups including biofuel, energy storage and clean power companies. Vinod Khosla founded Khosla Ventures. He left Kleiner Perkins seven years ago to found his own firm. He made his name investing in Internet backbone companies more than a decade ago. He also co-founded Sun Microsystems. Ever since then, his firm has made significant investments in the newer generation of Web and IT companies in addition to green-oriented companies.
