Bangalore: Art in India has moved on to a revolutionary path demanding a better exposure for budding artists for their creative expressions and artistic practice. With the disheveled state of India's government-run museums, private art collectors and philanthropists have decided to open private museums to help young artists, curators and critics. They are being their voice of concern. Here is the list of the people who hold private museums: 1. Devi Art Foundation:
Devi Art Foundation
The Devi Art Foundation came into existence way back in 2008 by Lekha and Anupam Poddar in Gurgoan, Haryana. This was India's first private museum. There exist more than 5,000 pieces of Indian tribal, folk and modernist art while contemporary art makes up 40 percent. The Poddars seek to create, through Devi, a space which fosters meaningful interactions between several artists in the subcontinent to enhance our understanding of a shared history.
