India's Happiest Cities: Jaipur Tops, Ahmedabad Least

Bangalore: Jaipur is the happiest city in India whereas Ahmedabad is the least happy city in the country, reveals a recent Outlook-Mahindra Club happiness survey. The survey was conducted in 16 major cities in India namely Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahat, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna and Pune. A total of 2,014 respondents including men and women aged 25-50 plus were polled using a structured questionnaire from October 15-22. The survey was conducted on the basis of the amount of wealth one owns or the outlook for one's future in terms of economy, personal gain, etc. Here are the 10 happiest cities in the country:

1. Jaipur The pink city of India tops the list as 96.8 percent of the population here said that they are happy. The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur has been ranked 31st among the 50 Emerging Global Outsourcing cities. It is a major hub for traditional and modern industries. The city is one of the most well planned cities in the country. Apart from handlooms, textiles, readymade garments, and carpet, Jaipur is emerging up as a major ITES centre. The pink city has an upcoming gems and jewellery industry and is one of the largest exporters of gold, diamond and stone jewelry in Asia.
