Indians Lack Sense of Belonging towards Their Cities

Bangalore: Do Indians lack a sense of belonging with their cities? According to a recent survey -‘State of the Nation' poll by CNN-IBN and GfK Mode, it was seen that a majority of the urban citizens said they would never get involved in community welfare associations.

The research organization GfK Mode conducted the survey in eight cities - Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmadabad and Chandigarh. In total, 1731 persons above 18 years of age were interviewed.

The interesting findings from the survey revealed that only 1 percent respondents would get involved with activities of Resident Welfare Associations on a daily basis. While thirty-eight percent people said they would sometimes get involved with the activities of RWA or Group Housing Society. It was seen that 61 percent people would never get involved with the activities of RWA.

It was also noted that the cities of the south and west were most active when compared to the cities of the north, which were the least active. 88 percent people in Delhi said that they would never get involved with the activities of RWA.
