Santa Clara: After acquiring local ecommerce company FashionStake, the New York based ecommerce company Fab.com has made its mark in the international market by acquiring Casacanda, a flash sales website for design objects in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Casacanda is based out of Berlin, Germany and would be relaunched as Fab.de, with 250,000 members. This acquisition brings Fab’s worldwide membership to more than 2.4 million members.

As per the blog of Jason Goldberg, Founder & CEO, Fab.com, their ambition is to establish Fab as the global resource for design; design which is a global thing. Within five months of the launch, Jason began thinking about and strategizing the markets to be roped into the Fab model. Owing to this they honed in on Germany as being the first Fab center outside U.S.

Goldberg also feels that Berlin is a great startup hub and that the people over there have deep rooted passion for design and the types of products similar to those sold by Fab. With the acquisition, he feels that they would be able to generate at least 10-20 percent of their overall revenues. The company now has about 200 team members worldwide.

The company also plans to offer Fab.de in English and later expand to more countries in Durope and beyond the Fab.de url. It is also working with its design partners to sell globally and would be leveraging scale in logistics and technology. Fab.de’s team will be soon be on the company’s technology platform.

Founded in 2010 by Jason Goldberg, Bradford Shane Shellhammer, Nishith Shah, and Deepa Shah, Fab.com has raised a total of $51 million in funds till now.
