Coca Cola Quarterly Volume in India Grows 20 Percent

New Delhi: Global beverages giant Coca Cola posted 20 percent growth in volume for the quarter ended Dec 31 in India, driven by the Diwali festival, while its global consolidated net operating revenues rose by five percent to $11 billion. "India volume grew 20 percent in the quarter, our 22nd consecutive quarter of growth, with strong 22 percent growth in sparkling beverages driven by Diwali festival activation and continued success with integrated marketing programs like our Coke Studio music programming," the company said in a statement. "The volume growth for the full year remained well-balanced across the globe, with solid growth in key developed markets like North America, Japan and Germany and double-digit growth in key emerging markets like India and China," it added. Global consolidated gross profit increased 7 percent to $6.64 billion while the company's operating income in the Eurasia and Africa during the quarter under review grew 16 percent. The company, which does not give country-specific details, said its Eurasia and Africa group's volume grew four percent in the quarter led by strong results in India. The bottling investments group's volume grew 3 percent in the quarter on an average daily sales basis, reflecting growth in Germany, India and China.
