Mumbai: While the entire city is shaken by the continuous terror attacks, for IT and BPO firms in Mumbai it was a normal day, thanks to the technologies like broadband and Blackberrys. "Our corporate office in Mumbai has asked its employees in Mumbai to operate from home as they all have broadband connections and BlackBerrys," said Aparup Sengupta, CEO, Aegis BPO.

The Indian IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which is headquartered in south Mumbai where terror struck, made its employees to operate out of any of the offices in north Mumbai until further advice. Even Partha De Sarkar, CEO, HTMT asserted that the company has ensured the safety of its employees by making them stay at home and assured normal security. The company's two offices in Mumbai employ around 300 people. IBM-Daksh, in an official statement sent out to the media said, "There are no known impacts to IBM facilities or employees at this time. We are closely monitoring the situation."

For Intelenet Global Services, a BPO service provider, the employees have continued to work on a regular basis though the firm ensured pick up and drop for every employee. But Syntel, an IT services and KPO services firm has declared holiday for employees to ensure no harm from the ongoing terror attacks. Keshav Murugesh, President and CEO, Syntel said, "Although we are fully prepared we have not yet invoked business continuity plan (BCP). Incase of the problem persists for a longer time the company is toes to face it."
