Bangalore: The more you are popular, the more you have liabilities, work pressure and personal sentiments. Show biz is never easy for such popularities. The recent mysterious death of Whitney Houston which happened a day before Grammy Awards Highlights, where her body was found dead in a hotel room, reveals that how fragile their lives are being this showbiz. Here are some Indian celebrities who ended their life abruptly.
Silk Smitha
Vijayalakshmi, popularly known as Silk Smitha, was a film actress who predominantly worked in the South Indian film industry. She was a supporting actress and first got noticed in her movie where her character’s name was ‘Silk’. Born in a poor family in Andra Pradesh, she left school after fourth standard. She got married at a very young age, but was ill-treated by her husband and in-laws; hence she ran away to Madras (Chennai) and started living with her Aunt. In the film industry, she debuted as a touch-up artist for a B-grade actor. Later she got a break in small character roles.
She was trying to move her career to become a film producer than an actor. In 1996, Silk Smitha was found dead in her Chennai Apartment. Financial problems, disillusionment in love, and an alcohol dependency apparently led her to depression and it is suspected that she commited suicide.
