Indian-American Beauty Queen to Debut in Bollywood
Bangalore: Melanie Kannokada, Hollywood actress, model, philanthropist and former Miss India America is making her Bollywood debut in the comedy drama, Love Lies and Seeta. She will play the life of an Indian girl adopted by parents from America in the movie.
Melanie, who has her roots in Kerala is finding it a bit hard adjusting with the glittering world of bollywood, which is entirely different from that of Hollywood.
"It's amazing how Bollywood gives so much importance to song-and-dance numbers. I don't find anything special in these dances but I am surprised by the way they get you noticed and talked about," Melanie said.
She completed mechanical engineering from Stanford University and has also worked as a management executive at Mckinsey and Co.
“I worked as a management executive for some time but then decided to quit the job and give acting a try. Everyone cautioned me about how uncertain life in showbiz is, but I was sure I wanted to try my luck anyway,” Melanie said
Melanie has been the model for many popular brands such as NesCafe, Crocs, Acura, Herbal Essences, LG, DSW, and Verizon. She is also the first Indian American who was selected as the face of a global cosmetics brand, Bare Escentuals international.
