Bangalore: Padmapriya Ashokkumar, a former doctoral student at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln has sued her professors, claiming that her Professors did not permit her to finish her Ph.D. Padmapriya  was not allowed to continue her research, following a complaint that was filed by her against her adviser, of plagiarism.

Padmapriya joined the University in the year 2002 to work on a project related to computer usability, under the leadership of Scott Henninger. She tells that she was highly disappointed with the incapability of her adviser in helping her with the papers and as a result she was forced to put an end to their teamwork, in the year 2006.An year later, she filed a plagiarism complaint against Henninger, alleging that he has copied her work.

A university committee gave her full support and upheld her complaint, the same year.

“I feel the life that I have isn’t exactly how I would envision it to be.  None of this is my fault”, says Padmapriya. She also adds that “emotionally, it has been very difficult, very painful for me.’’

Padmakumar has recently filed a lawsuit against six of her former professors and administrators at the University, in the U.S. District Court of Nebraska, complaining about the injustice she is facing, regarding the completion of her research work.

The administrators of the University have not commented on the issues so far.
