Worst Idea Ever: Samsung To Launch Facebook's Clone

Bangalore: Samsung is trying really hard to expand its presence in different industries. Its latest ploy is to jump on the social network bandwagon and come up with a Facebook like service sometime next year reports Korea Times. Though it sounds like a really bad idea since we already have enough social networks dominating a better part of our lives.

The project internally called ‘Samsung Facebook’ is all set to compete head on with Zucky’s company.  The new site will be launched across all its platforms ranging from televisions to cameras. A Samsung official said “The eventual goal is to expand our social media service across different devices from different companies across different mobile platforms. That includes cameras, televisions and blue-ray players,”

Samsung has tasted some success with its independent messaging service called ChatOn and is also the world leader in smartphones and web enabled televisions. The company will work hard to cash in on these strengths to make their social network the next Facebook. Samsung also plans to integrate the site with Amazon’s cloud computing platform to make it accessible to any device anywhere in the world.

Samsung’s website will be an identical twin of Facebook and will surely compete with it head on. The question that remains unanswered here is if this will work? Reactions so far show that, it will not. Facebook is a very strong brand etched in the minds of users. Also users will appreciate an original idea and not a replica of a hit format.

Samsung must think on those lines and try and come up with something Un Facebook like. Anyways, users have had enough of Zucky’s company. Food for thought.
