World IT Forum for First Time In India

Bangalore: Sustainable Human development will be the widely discussed topic at this year’s World Information Technology Forum (WITFOR) to be hosted by India for the first time in Delhi on April 16 to 18, 2012.

This congregation of more than 1000 participants from over 60 countries will include political leaders, government officials, International Organizations, NGOs and private companies working in the field of IT for development.

The event which will be inaugurated by IT and Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal, will be seen as a global platform for policy makers and industry in India to learn from other countries but as an avenues for further cooperation and business development.

The Forum will bring together senior bureaucrats and technologists from South Korea, Canada, Nigeria, Kenya, Malaysia, Estonia, Moldova and Secretaries to the Government of India, both from the Centre and states.

Is there hunger for Information Technology in Agriculture? Can technology address governance issues? Can ICT benefit the small farmers? will be some of the issues that matter discussed in panels named From Green Revolution to IT Revolution in Agriculture, Institutionalising the use of ICT for better healthcare, Putting Farmers First, State data banks and issues of privacy.
