Bangalore: Just 90 minutes before the grand launch of Nexus Q at the Google I/O, the next-generation media streaming hardware was out in Google’s digital storefront. Does this show the incompetence of Google or was it a well thought marketing strategy?

Many tech-companies have been found to leak their own secret information about new product or service launch. Sometimes this has proved good for the company and sometimes it just takes away the curiosity from the anticipating minds of people. Forrester analyst Ken Dulaney believes that one reason for this could be that companies fear of their products getting copied. Partner companies have also been found leaking information. Here are some of the tech companies which have recently done this:

1. Google

Few days before the Nexus Q slip-up, Google also disclosed Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the press before its official announcement.

Though, Nexus Q’s information leak took away the wow-factor from the keynote address, Sergey Brin brought it back with the Google Glass sky-diving stunt.

Earlier, Google had even posted a video on its YouTube channel revealing the Gmail’s new design and features, which it refused to comment on later.
