Facebook Acquires Mobile Gadget Focused Spool

Bangalore: Facebook has added one more mobile technology, by acquiring the team Spool, a startup specializing in bookmarking, and sharing content on smartphones or tablets. Instead of buying any of the Spool mobile products the company acquires the team itself.  The Spool team will now offer its mobile software development expertise to Facebook, closing down its own apps.

The biggest challenge for Facebook was adapting itself to mobile devices. It is high time that the leading social network had dominated across all aspects of sharing content and mobile applications, since the world now accesses internet primarily through mobile devices.

Facebook’s own mobile apps have failed to get an impressive acceptability among the users. This is where the company thought of asking help from others, like the Spool team. Facebook, by making such a move, hopes to utilize latter’s expertise to synchronize the web and mobile applications.

"We're excited for the team to join and accelerate their vision at Facebook," the company officials responded to AFP on July 16. Spool products let people organize online content using bookmarks. That helps them to access digital stories, videos or other material at their leisure or on different Internet-linked gadgets. The mobile app developed by the same enabled the users to share and manage content on mobile devices within groups and made the content easily consumable.
