Facebook Acquires Indian Founded Tagtile

California: The mobile spending spree of Facebook is not going to end with the acquisition of Instagram for $1 billion. It has acquired another mobile loyalty startup Tagtile for an undisclosed amount. The San Francisco based Tagtile is a loyalty and direct marketing solution designed to grow the users business, and will continue to serve its existing customers but is not taking on any new clients. The founders of Tagtile will join Facebook as employees.

Co-Founded by Abheek Anand and Soham Mazumdar in 2011, Tagtile helps local businesses identify, engage and increase repeat purchases from customers through a frictionless loyalty and direct marketing solution. Anand is also the CEO of the company, where he focuses on engineering, and marketing. Prior to this, he worked in Product Management at Engine Yard, as an investor at Lightspeed Venture Partners, and as an early engineer at VMware. He holds a BSCS from IIT Delhi, an MSCS from the University of Maryland, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Mazumdar heads the Product at Tagtile. Prior to this, he was an early engineering lead at Google, where he spent over six years working on infrastructure and data mining for Google Search. He holds a BSCS from IIT Kanpur, and an MSCS from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
