Eucalyptus Systems Raises $30 Million In Series C Round Of Funding

California: Eucalyptus Systems, a Santa Barbara based creator of private cloud platforms, has raised $30 million in series C round of funding led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP). The existing investors, including Benchmark Capital, BV Capital, and New Enterprise Associates also invested in this round of funding. The company has raised a total of $55.5 million in total funding till date.

With this round of funding, the company has appointed Steve Harrick, General Partner at IVP, to its Board of Directors.

Co-founded by Neil Soman, Dmitri Zagorodnov, Rich Wolski, Woody Rollins, Chris Grzegorczyk, Daniel Nurmi and Graziano Obertelli; Eucalyptus provides IT organizations and technology businesses with the most widely deployed cloud software platform for on-premise Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Built in an open source cloud product, it is enabling 25,000 cloud starts each year, including instances at more than 20 percent of Fortune 100 companies.

Neil Soman is also the Director of Release Engineering at the company. Prior to this, he was Postdoctoral Researcher at UCSB and holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California.
