Visakhapatnam(Index Score:53.741):

Visakhapatnam (also known as Vizag) is port city on the southeast coast of India. With a population of 42,88,113 as per the Census of 2011, is the second largest city in the state of Andhra Pradesh (after Hyderabad) and the third- largest city in the east coast only after Chennai and Kolkatta. The city boasts one of India’s largest seaports and has country’s oldest shipyard. The city offers attractive beaches and pleasing hillocks. The city was a hamlet of fishing community during the early days of India’s independence, but things have changed completely. It is identified as one of the fastest growing cities in the world, both economically and demographically. National and International IT and banking firms such as IBM, Mahindra Satyam have opened offices in the city. Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) Companies have announced plans for development and outsourcing centers in Vizag. In education also, English is the first language in many institutions in the city. In the latest growth to its economy, Hinduja has begun construction of a 1,070-MV thermal power plant in Visakhapatnam. The city has a range of tourist attractions which has improved the city’s economy. Places like Rushikoda beach are a treat for the tourists.

 Amritsar historically known as Ramdaspur, is a city in the north-western part of India. The main commercial activities include tourism, carpets and fabrics, handicrafts and trade. The city is known for its rich cuisine and culture. The government of India and Punjab pledged Rs 2,100 crore for the development of mass rapid transport system for the city. The city is well connected to all the major cities in India. Indian Railways have also proposed a high speed rail line to Delhi- Amritsar. The train is to run at 160km/hr. Companies from Japan, China and Canada have expressed interest in the project thus, giving a boost to the development of the economy.
