Bangalore: Lenovo a tech giant today announced the incorporation of two brand new servers to its line of ThinkServers, the ThinkServer RD350 and RD630. The introduction of these two rack servers by the company have been designed considering the critical needs of today’s IT business infrastructure with respect to cloud and virtualization reports pcmag.com

ThinkServer RD350 comes with tool-less rail kits which is a 1U rack server with easy mounting features. Users can preferably choose among the Intel Xeon E5-2600 processor family to accommodate the two sockets in both servers with the potential to deliver up to eight cores per processor.

Interestingly one of the important features is that each of the servers can take up 320GB of RAM capacity in 20 DIMM slots. There is also an advanced feature with RAID controller options for Redundancy and fault tolerance, and a choice of upto eight or 16 hot-swappable drives.

Lenovo states that the new servers are more power-efficient than previous generation Lenovo servers. The new chassis improves thermal efficiency by 30 percent, and has optimal low voltage memory, as well as fan speed control algorithms that compensate for altitude and temperature. The vendor also claims that the new design reduces failure due to vibration and shock by 40 percent.

Additional capabilities include Smart Grid power management technology, which leverages Intel Node Manager to scale power management of up to 1,000 servers in a datacenter. IT administrators can install an operating system and drivers using a two-click rapid deployment feature.

Prices for the ThinkServer RD530 and RD630 begin at $2,399 and $2,699, respectively. Both units are available starting mid-June direct through Lenovo's website, or through Lenovo partners.
