ViewSonic Launched 22-inch Android Tablet

Bangalore: ViewSonic unveiled a 22 inch Android tablet in the first day of Computex 2012. The tablet is named as ViewSonic VCD22 and arguably it is world’s first 22 inch tablet that runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system.

“Viewsonic showed off the VCD22 Android Smart Display, a 22-inch, full HD screen that runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a dual-core, 1-GHz  TI OMAP 4428 CPU”, reports Laptopmag.

Due to its large form factor it looks like an Android running All-in-One desktop without any peripherals like keyboard or mouse. The device is powered with 1 GHz TI OMAP 4428 CPU, 1 GB of RAM, 1.2 MP front facing camera for video chats and calling, 22 inch capacitive display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and packed with plenty of connectivity ports including Ethernet, HDMI, 3.5 mm audio jack and for wireless connectivity it has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1.

Well this huge tablet is not for everyday usage, but can be used in a wide choice-ranging from budget minded families to use as a PC or may be in schools as Internet appliance for children and to host interactive lessons for kids.

The tablet is expected to hit the Indian store by the second half of this year and will be priced around 26,647 (roughly translated from $479).
