Micromax Launching Solar Powered Phone

Bangalore: The Indian mobile manufacture Micromax is well known for producing wide range of feature rich, low-cost mobile phones. Now the company is working on a mobile phone which has built-in solar charger.

"We have been at the forefront of innovation. We were the first to launch long battery life phones, dual SIM phones and many more. Our next innovation is to get rid of the mobile phone charger by including a solar panel in our next phone. This solar charger will top up the charge in 3 hours to support 1.5 hours of talktime" said Rahul Sharma, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Micromax, reports The Mobile Indian.

He further added, the solar powered handset will be a feature phone, not a smartphone; and also refused to disclose the tech specification of the phone. More details about its price and specification will be available after it launch.

Micromax is not the first one to launch mobile phone with solar charging. Few years back Vodafone has launched a very basic phone; VF-247, with solar charging panel at its back for 1,500. Recently Amazon Kindle Fire also got a solar Kindle case with built in solar panel and battery which provides three months of reading time in normal sunlight, without dipping into Kindle's own power, it seems like there are lots of good news coming up in the field of go-green technology.
